3G Iridium Ion Source Filament — Pfeiffer Adixen ASM 310, 340, 380, 390 The iridium filament for the 3G analyser cell of the Pfeiffer Adixen ASM 310, ASM 340, ASM 380 and ASM 390. Pfeiffer's own service numbers for the 3G cell filament are 129108S and 114864S (also 2000048862); this is the Taixing-manufactured equivalent. Iridium filaments survive the kind of accidental air inrush that instantly oxidises tungsten, and they emit at a lower temperature, which is what gives them their life on a machine that calibrates and cycles all day. They are still a consumable — the emitting surface evaporates with running hours, and the calibration factor climbs as it does. Most 3G cells hold two filaments with automatic switchover. Check which one your detector is running on before you order: if it has already moved to the standby, one spare is not enough. Filament re-welding onto the original mount is available as an alternative where the mount is sound.
